Sabirabad-Baku highway

Some fishing buddies and I decided to visit Lake Sarısu, which is between Kurdamir and Imishli. One of the guys had a relative in Sabirabad who promised to take us to the lake. We got to Sabirabad, picked up the relative and set off. The relative brought his shotgun along in case we got a chance to do some hunting. The road through the villages was awful and you couldn't go faster than 30 km an hour. By the time we reached the lake it was already 3 in the afternoon. We had hardly any time left. Well, we got there and saw there was no way to do it without a boat. There were two boats. One was leaking and our guys were scared to get into the other one. Long story short, everyone refused to go out on the lake by boat except one guy. We left him there and went off to the Kura to try our luck. Nobody managed to catch anything. No bites. By evening we'd shot 3 rabbits for home and a local fisherman gave us about 10 crucian carp for dinner. Anyway, nobody's in the mood, and the next morning we head back to the city. Wherever we spot a small pond or canal, we give it a try, because the fishing bug just won't leave us alone. In the end we gave up and drove straight to Baku without stopping. Suddenly one of the guys sitting in the back shouted "stop". I hit the brakes and we see some local kids catching something in a small canal right by the highway. We got out of the car and asked what they were catching. Turns out the place is full of pike. You look at the canal and you'd never in your life think you could catch anything there. It's 1.5, 2 meters wide max, for irrigating the fields. So we grabbed our spoons and rods and off we went. In the end we caught 3 little pike. At least that calmed us down a bit, and we went home.
