The Pirsagat ridges

For a long time I couldn't find the time to write a report, but finally the long-awaited moment has come and I've got some free time. You'll find it interesting anyway, especially since hardly anyone has written about these places. So, on the evening of May 23 we decided to go on a long-awaited fishing trip, and not just anywhere, but to the Pirsagat ridge. This ridge is on the territory of a nature reserve not far from Alat. We got there late at night and were planning to catch shrimp, but as practice shows, if normal guys manage to get out fishing once a year, then on the first day they're definitely not in the mood for shrimp ). In the morning the local fishermen dropped us off on the second ridge in a motorboat. There again we weren't exactly in the mood for fishing. In the evening the time for fishing finally came. At first there was nothing, but closer to six, at my spot on the rock by the passage, kutum started biting, not as actively as I'd have liked, to be honest, but it suited me fine, especially since the ones biting there are no smaller than 500 g. I caught a couple of carp at 700-800 g. One of them did get away with my hook, though, and it seemed to me it was really huge ). On Sunday morning the shrimp had gone off, so I had to get into the water and catch them again. Catching shrimp took up almost the whole morning; by the way, I'd like to point out that there's very little shrimp this year, even in this protected place. And the places, I'll tell you, are stunning — nobody on the whole island, you just sit there in peace and catch your fish. True, a lot of poachers have shown up, but what can you do, the poor folks have to feed their families somehow too. All in all, I'll tell you, we had a proper rest and caught some fish, and on top of that our friends who ferry us over — we've known them for a long time — also put quite a lot of fish in our car, and most importantly big ones. Good thing my wife doesn't know you don't catch asp on shrimp).
If anyone wants to go there, I advise going only with a south wind; with a north wind you absolutely have to know certain spots. Plus, spearfishing fans will really like these places — they say even sturgeon are around there now. A boat runs from Alat and takes a person over for 5 manats, but you can negotiate with them, and you can leave your car right there.
Gentlemen, I'd like to ask you to write a short article about what beginner spearfishers need; lately this topic really interests me. Please advise what to buy to start with, and where, if there are any places.
