Kurdamir

Scouting the Kurdamir drainage canals.

We decided to spend the weekend outdoors and go scouting new spots. After some discussion about where to end up, we decided to go to Kurdamir to check out the local drainage canals. In the morning at half past four we set off. By 8 a.m. we reached the first spot. Cast our rods and waited, and without getting anything worthwhile we moved on to the next place. The next, more promising spot pleased us with bites from small fish. As a local old-timer, aka the Sabaneyev of Kurdamir, put it, "too early yet, in a couple of weeks". We moved on to the next spot, and here I regretted not taking my gear, and I'd wanted to ((( The underwater visibility said spearfishing was possible, and I hadn't brought anything ( Driving that many km and not diving, now that's a letdown. Well, what can you do, fishing there is hard because the weeds by the bank get in the way. We drove on. At the next spot we caught just one vimba, and "too early yet" we remembered the old-timer's words. By the way, I didn't go without a catch, I caught a turtle, the first in my life on a rod.

PS Even though we caught nothing, we had a great time and found new spots, we'll be going in September for pike, because 107 has kind of gotten old !!!!
