First shot... First fish... First report...

As they say, our ranks have grown.

I think everyone's got it: I'm a beginner spearfisher and this is my first fish.

After an unsuccessful outing on Saturday to ZGO (Mursal), since the water was murky and there wasn't a single encounter with fish, probably because of the west wind, on Sunday we decided to go to the Türkan shore.

By "we" I mean two spearfishers, Igor and Ramil (Diver), and two newbies, Mamed (i.e. me) and Ruslan. Oh yeah, I forgot, we also had a young squire and future spearfishing champion with us, Eldar, the son of our respected Igor.

So, the Türkan shore, where the dachas are. The bottom is mostly rocky, sand in places, shell in places. So you can (probably) come across different kinds of fish. The wind was from the south, underwater visibility near the shore was 2-3 meters, deeper it was worse, in places just milk. In a couple of hours of swimming no decent fish were spotted. Now and then small quick little mullet showed up. But I didn't shoot them, I was waiting for the right moment so that my first shot wouldn't be for nothing. Ruslan had already managed to shoot a couple of small ones, training his speargun shooting skills, so to speak, and he was doing pretty well. Fortune didn't make me wait long, and then on the sandy bottom at a depth of less than a meter I saw huge eyes coming toward me. It was the first time I'd seen such a big fish underwater, which later turned out to be a one-kilo mullet. I froze, keeping it in my sights, and letting it come closer I waited for a convenient position for the shot, so as not to miss with my first shot. When it got to about 1.5 meters, this drunken underwater vessel started turning. And then, aiming at its side, I took my first shot with my speargun, bought a couple of days earlier, and hit it right in the back. The feeling of joy and delight I experienced at that moment just can't be put into words. It was the only big fish I saw that day.

Now my fish stringer line smells of fish too!
