Shirvan Canal

We went fishing in this area Saturday into Sunday. We set off without really preparing properly, i.e. we didn't catch any live bait in advance. We relied on the good old "it'll work out somehow" — we'll catch some in the canal. Well, no such luck. The Sunday before last we caught plenty of live bait in the canal. But this Saturday, no such luck — not a single one, so we decided to fish with sprat and ocean shrimp. We ran around all night for nothing. On top of that it was a full moon, bright as day, and as it turned out, catfish don't like that kind of weather. In the morning we got up and decided to drive further to the drainage collectors towards Ismayilli for pike. And again, last Sunday decent-sized pike were biting on spoons and wobblers in familiar spots. But this time, after running along the canals, we caught only 6-7 little pike of about 300 g each. I think a local resident explained the reason. He said that yesterday they had set nets in these spots. And before that someone had poisoned the fish with some kind of poison. So that's how the fishing went. I'm not posting photos, I'm ashamed to show such small fry.
