Saratov Oblast, the town of Balakovo
Hello, friends. I've finally found the time to write a report about our trip to the glorious town of Balakovo. My repeated attempts to send the report from there didn't succeed. Well, anyway, it's a small, green town, there's a nuclear plant nearby and a hydroelectric station, locks. Population about 300 thousand. Before leaving we agreed with our relatives that our holiday would be an active one - fishing only. And as soon as we arrived they arranged a stay at a holiday camp - Revyaka - it's 25 km from the town. Right on the bank of the Volga, cabins in the woods, somewhat reminds you of Nabran. 300 metres from the camp the Revyaka River flows into the Volga. That's where we thought something would be biting. But we were told that the fish would only start biting after 15 August, and right now, because of the heat, there's basically no fishing. And indeed, however much we and the many other anglers tried spinning, nothing came of it. But there were definitely fish - perch, pike, zander, asp live there, and so on. And in general all the proper anglers there have boats and fish from them. So we had no choice but to swim in the Volga and catch little fish on a float rod - rudd. It took pearl barley well. We weren't left without fish soup and fried fish. Once back in Balakovo we decided to explore a huge canal not far from the house. After asking the local anglers, we found out that they fish with the so-called spring feeder - it's something like a little basket, it serves as a sinker and the bait goes inside. Having bought this spring feeder in one of the many fishing shops, along with lots of gear, as well as worms and maggots, and groundbait, we armed ourselves and early in the morning at 4 am rushed off fishing. My husband's first cast ended in failure - he started reeling in, snagged on the weeds and lost it - the spring feeder. He had to put on a new one. And then the bites started. We were catching bream of 500 g. And I was fishing with my niece on a float rod - little roach, her cat was happy. And we fried the bream, a very tasty fish. So that's how our holiday went.
