ZGO, the pumping station...

Finally managed to get away to the sea, for the first time this season...

ZGO, the bay, opposite the pumping station...

There's always underwater visibility there, you can calmly get your shooting back in shape...
Light north-south wind (at home it was northern, by the time I got to the spot it was already

southern) visibility 3-6m.
The sea level has dropped, by at least 0.5m.
Started around 14-30, finished around 18-30.
Not many fish, took 7 smallish mullet.
Ran into big ones four times. The first one got away, the flopper didn't open on the

other side. Shot at the second one, the spear went over it, but hit one further back right at the edge of the spine, naturally it tore free and got away. The other two encounters I noticed too late (was swimming fast)... spooked them...
Swam a loop of almost 3km, but I'm happy, got some shooting in...

Mid-hunt the sun went in, came out at the end, but the wind had almost
died down, and so had the fish activity...

At the end of the hunt I came across a grass snake holding the head of a goby in its mouth,
at least 10 times the size of its (the snake's) head.
How was it planning to swallow it?
The goby wasn't moving, but when I went to grab it by the tail it started
wriggling away.
The thing is, I didn't realize right away what kind of fish it was. Looked like an aquarium fish, completely black, with wide, round pectoral fins, like wings. Only from the shape did I guess it was a goby. Grabbed the snake by the tail, pulled it closer, started looking...
The snake got tired of being towed around, spat out its prey and swam off...
My bad, I ruined its meal...
But I saved the black beauty... from the evil dragon... :)
Wanted to give it back to the snake, no such luck, it shot off into the weeds like nothing
had happened...
Didn't see any snakes on the rocks, but in the water I ran into a few big ones...
A few diving ducks, no swans...

They've totally ruined the bay, fenced it off everywhere, by summer it'll be a real swamp.
Instead of sea air there'll be a stench...by the way, already now I've got blisters on my legs... allergy...
Long story short, the hunting area gets smaller every year...

Guess I'll have to carve out a canoe... :)
