Black Sea Stage of the Russian Championship

I'm a frequent visitor to this site, but this is my first time writing here. It's because of a pile of emotions overwhelming me, as someone who sees spearfishing not only as entertainment and a way to catch fish, but also as a beautiful sport.
A year ago, in 2009, the First Azerbaijan Spearfishing Championship was held. I have to say it was held at a decent level. Remembering everything I felt during the preparation and taking part, I decided to take part in the Russian championship. After getting in touch with the competition organizers over the internet, I went to the 19th Black Sea stage of the Russian Spearfishing Championship, held in the city of Gelendzhik on June 12-13.
Having understood the structure of the Federation (RFPR) and seeing how closely spearfishers there are tied to each other by friendship, I'd like us to have a federation or club like that too. Over the year they hold 6 calendar competitions in different waters, in Gelendzhik, Astrakhan, in the Urals...
First of all, I want to note that the competitions were held under strict judging control. No slack for anyone: all participants start at the same time, and even for being 30 seconds late handing in your fish - disqualification. The competition rules are basically the same as ours were, but with a small difference in that the number of scoring fish of one species is limited (no more than 8 fish).
I was pleasantly surprised by the attitude of the Federation's president, Vladimir Stepanovich Dazhaev, towards my participation. At the training camp held before the competition, he personally briefed me on the particulars of hunting in the Black Sea, whose specific feature is hunting at a depth of 10-15 meters. It's no secret to anyone that multiple Champion Vladimir Stepanovich Dazhaev, even without his sporting victories, is rightly considered the best spearfisher. An amazing "nose" for fish, a special kind of intuition and enormous experience working at depth - those are the ingredients of his phenomenal success. At 67, V.S. Dazhaev, I have to say, feels no less comfortable in the water than on land. And for me it was my first experience of deep hunting. I dove to 18-20 meters. The feeling - like you're floating in weightlessness, the clarity and silence take your breath away, and sometimes the sudden thought that you still have to make it back up makes you a little uneasy.
