Unstable weather expected in Azerbaijan until the end of September

The influence of the anticyclone that has kept mild, dry weather over the country for a long time is noticeably weakening.

As reported by the National Department of Hydrometeorology of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, due to the gradual approach of a cyclonic zone formed over the Mediterranean Sea, unstable and overcast weather will prevail from the evening of 24 September until 30 September. Air temperatures will drop by 3-5 degrees compared with previous days.

In Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula, daytime air temperatures will be 20-24 degrees, in the central steppe regions 22-27, and in the mountains 12-17 degrees.
Intermittent rain is expected until 30 September, and in some areas, especially at night and in the evening, downpours are possible. On 25 September wind speeds will reach 15-20 m/s, at times 23-25 m/s. On 26 September the wind will die down. On 28 September, starting in the afternoon, the north-westerly wind will strengthen, and on the evening of 29 September a strong south-westerly and westerly wind is expected.

Due to heavy rain, a rise in river water levels cannot be ruled out, and short-term flooding is possible on some mountain rivers.
