Sewage Is Being Discharged into the Waters of Shuvelan Beach

A reader of our publication contacted the Day.Az editorial office and provided photographs that clearly show sewage waste being discharged directly into the waters of Shuvelan beach.

It is reported that the sewage pipe runs out into the sea right on the beach, in the area of the Severnaya GRES power plant in the settlement of Shuvelan.

There is no doubt that this discharge poses a threat of bacterial infection to swimmers, with the beach season approaching.

A Day.Az correspondent contacted the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan with a request to comment on the situation, and received a promise that a comment would be given on Tuesday.
