Second Open Championship of Azerbaijan in Spearfishing!

The competition is held by the Federation of Air and Extreme Sports, with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the clubs Caspian Diver and Caspian Hunters, to identify the strongest spearfishers in the Individual and Team standings, to popularize spearfishing and to share experience.
The competition is a ranking event: it is included in the selection system for the Azerbaijan national team for away competitions.

Participants

Athletes from any spearfishing associations of Azerbaijan are admitted to the competition in the Individual and Team standings.

Competition conditions

The competition is held on 11-12, 09,2010 in accordance with the Rules of Amateur and Sport Fishing of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the CMAS Rules - 2 days of 5 hours of spearfishing each
The winner is determined by the total points over the two days of competition.
Minimum qualifying weight: mullet 500 g, kutum 500 g, carp and barbel from 1000 g, everything else from 500 g.
To calculate the athletes' points, the following coefficient is used: 1 g of weight - 1 point
Waters: Absheron district, Tereshkin island
Alat district, Pirsaat ridges
Depths up to 15 m.
Fish: mullet, kutum, carp, asp, barbel, perch, buffalo.
Fish prohibited from catching: all sturgeon species, salmon.

Teams and participants arrive at the competition with their own gear. The waters are closed to hunting 1 day before the start of the competition.

TO BE ADMITTED TO THE COMPETITION, ATHLETES MUST HAVE:
1. A passport or ID card.
2. A named application and a medical record (or a health certificate from a clinic)
all participants sign a DECLARATION-REPORT confirming their agreement with the Conditions of the competition and their personal responsibility for the risk.

START and FINISH - the location of the Judging Panel
The results of athletes who do not check in with the judges at the Start or at the Finish
ARE CANCELLED

After the control time expires at the finish
-the athlete is penalized - 10 minutes late -60 points
- if more than 30 minutes late, the catch IS CANCELLED, and the participant is given PENALTY points for the entire time of the delay.
-Penalty points count toward the result of the athlete and their team.

SAFETY MEASURES
Safety cover in the competition waters:
in pairs (buddy system), by a representative from the shore, or by judges from boats.
Each participant must have:
-A quick-release weight belt,
-a brightly colored signal buoy with buoyancy of at least 8 kg,
-the buoy must have space for the start number to be marked on it,
-a diving knife,
-a buoy line with a breaking strength of at least 20 kgf

An additional Oral Briefing is held before the start.
During the competition the athlete is FORBIDDEN to use any vehicles. Only boats and launches of the judging panel and the rescue service may be in the competition waters.
For violating the provisions of these regulations, an athlete is disqualified from the competition.

Additional information.
The COMPETITION is held with a participation fee of 20 manat for the two days of competition.
The costs of participating in the competition are borne by the sending organizations or by the athletes themselves. The organizer DOES NOT PROVIDE transport to the competition venue (except transport from the base directly to the start point), meals or accommodation.
Travel to the competition venue is by private transport

Also a big request to the participants: since we're doing everything with our own resources, we'll be glad of any help from participants.
A celebration of the competition is planned for the evening of the 11th with a disco and festive fish soup (ukha) for everyone.
A tent camp will be set up on the base grounds, anyone who wants can come with their gear and stay overnight at the camp. A nice time in the company of friends. All participants can come with their wives, kids, girlfriends. If any of the girls can lend a hand with organizing the competition, we'll be only too happy.
