Results of the 4th "bird flu" monitoring of 2008 made public

Today the State Veterinary Service (SVS) of the Ministry of Agriculture made public the results of the 4th "bird flu" monitoring this year in Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that the monitoring was conducted by SVS specialists in cooperation with the Ministries of Health and of Ecology and Natural Resources, as well as the Hunters' Society.
As reported by the head of the SVS press service, Yolchu Khanveli, the monitoring took place in migratory bird habitats in the Absheron, Shabran, Salyan and Lankaran districts, as well as on private farms in the country.
During the monitoring, blood samples were taken from 13 migratory birds and from 1352 birds kept on private farms in the country. No signs of "bird flu" were found in the blood samples.
The next monitoring will take place in November.
