In the Araz River on the border with Armenia, the main water-polluting elements exceed the norm by 2 times

[INTRO]In the part of the Araz River bordering Armenia, the amount of phenols and copper compounds exceeds the permissible norm by two times.[/INTRO]

This was reported to Day.Az by the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that the pollution was detected as a result of monitoring carried out by ministry staff every ten days on the Kura and Araz rivers, as well as their transboundary branches.

In addition, the monitoring revealed that on the border with Georgia, at the Shikhli-2 point of the Kura River, phenols exceed the permissible norm by 4 times, copper compounds by 9 times, and oil and oil products by 1.4 times.

In the Agstafachay River the amount of phenols exceeds the permissible norm by 3 times, copper elements by 5 times; at the reservoir of the same name: phenols by 2 times, copper elements by 9 times, oil and oil products by 1.2 times.
