Illegal construction work underway in Baku landslide zone

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has uncovered illegal construction in a landslide zone in Baku. This was reported by the ministry's press service.
The Bayil slope in the capital's Sabail district has been declared a landslide zone. Over the past 10 years, ground masses have shifted here repeatedly, and for this reason construction work in this area is prohibited.
According to the ministry's press service, during a raid carried out by staff of the Baku Department of Ecology and Natural Resources, it was found that a green area (110 m2) in the landslide zone at 57 Neftchilar Avenue had been fenced off for the purpose of building a substation for OJSC "Bakielektrikshebeke". The Department sent telephone messages to the Executive Authority of the capital and of Sabail district stating that carrying out any construction work at this address is inadvisable.
