Cleanup of oil-contaminated areas of Absheron

[INTRO]Azerbaijan and Korea will sign an agreement on implementing the project "Cleanup of Oil-Contaminated Areas on the Absheron Peninsula"[/INTRO]

Azerbaijan's Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev met with a delegation headed by the Vice President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Chang Se-Cheong.
According to the ministry's press service, the meeting discussed issues of cooperation and implementation of joint projects. In particular, the project "Cleanup of Oil-Contaminated Areas on the Absheron Peninsula" was discussed. The agreement on carrying out the project is planned to be signed during the visit of the Prime Minister of Korea to Azerbaijan scheduled for 21 April.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Energy and KOICA plan to implement a project on reducing losses in the power grid and rational use of energy resources. The possibility of allocating a site for a pilot project by Bakielektrikshebeke OJSC is currently being considered.
The Government of Azerbaijan is also negotiating with KOICA on creating a special economic zone, building small hydropower plants, and studying underground resources in the Talysh Mountains.
