Azerbaijan's Ministry of Ecology: "In the Araz River on the border with Armenia the main water pollutants exceed the norm 2-3 times"

Staff of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources have carried out another round of monitoring of the situation on transboundary rivers.
Day.Az was informed of this by the Ministry of Ecology's press service.
According to the information, the monitoring is carried out every ten days, and its aim is to determine the level of pollution of the transboundary rivers, namely the Kura and Araz rivers.
According to the results of the monitoring, on the border with Georgia at the Shikhli-2 point of the Kura River the main water pollutants exceed the permissible norm many times over. Thus, the amount of phenols exceeds the permissible norm by 4 times, copper elements by 9 times, oil and oil products by 1.4 times.
In the Aghstafachay River the amount of phenols exceeds the permissible norm by 3 times, copper elements by 5 times; at the reservoir: phenols by 2 times, copper elements by 9 times, oil and oil products by 1.2 times.
In the Araz River, on the border with Armenia, the amount of phenols and copper elements exceeds the permissible norm by 2-3 times.
