Azerbaijan's Ministry of Ecology: "Armenians destroyed natural resources in and around the city of Shusha"

After the occupation of the Azerbaijani city of Shusha by Armenians, the centuries-old trees of the Karabakh forests were used here as fuel.
As reported by Day.Az, this is stated in a release by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan dedicated to the 16th anniversary of the occupation of the Azerbaijani city of Shusha by the armed forces of Armenia.

The release notes that forests made up 20% of the city's territory. The forests and gorges around the city are rich in healing mineral springs and medicinal plants. It is noted that the largest mineral springs are Turshsu and Shirlan.

"In 1988, the Dashalty State Nature Sanctuary, covering 450 hectares, was established on the territory of Shusha and Askeran to protect natural complexes. In 1992, after the occupation by Armenians, the sanctuary was completely destroyed," the Ministry of Ecology's release says.

In addition, Armenians destroyed 1,500-2,000 oak trees.

The Operational Center under the Ministry of Ecology, which determines the extent of the destruction of the environment and natural resources in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, has documented numerous facts of the destruction of natural resources based on recent video footage.

In particular, in the upper part of the city of Shusha, in the area known as "Four Roads", on the left side of Lachin Street, on G.Askerov Street, about 200 trees of various diameters were cut down, and the trees grown slightly above this address were completely destroyed.

In the village of Zaryslı, all the trees were destroyed, including the ornamental and fruit trees planted in the yard of the village school.

In the reserve zone of the Topkhana forest, trees at the highest point were destroyed and buildings were erected there.
