Azerbaijani and Korean scientists to jointly study Azerbaijan's mud volcanoes

Azerbaijani and Korean scientists will jointly study mud volcanoes in the future.
The proposal was made by the Korean Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ryu Kwang-chul on Wednesday at a meeting with the Vice-President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute of Geology, Academician Akif Alizadeh.
Korea proposed future cooperation between Korean and Azerbaijani scientists to study the oil and gas structure of the South Caspian Basin, the mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan and Naftalan natural medicinal oil. At the meeting the proposal was verbally agreed, according to a statement issued by the Institute of Geology on Wednesday.
Azerbaijan's Institute of Geology plans to create an Atlas of the world's mud volcanoes and has invited Korean scientists to take part. More than 300 mud volcanoes have been discovered in Azerbaijan.
In 2006 a cooperation agreement was signed between Azerbaijan's Institute of Geology and the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources.
