Azerbaijan to introduce a navigation system unmatched in the CIS

In 2009 Azerbaijan plans to introduce a navigation system that has no equivalent in the CIS.
This was announced by the chairman of the State Committee for Land and Cartography, Garib Mammadov.

According to him, 35 stations have been installed in a number of the country's regions for this purpose.

"We intend to introduce a system through which anyone will be able to get accurate information from any location."

G. Mammadov stated that the companies currently offering such a service use the Google search system, but the images there cannot be called sharp.

The World Bank has allocated Azerbaijan a loan of 38 million dollars for the project.

"Of this, 15 million dollars will go to work on geodesy, the land cadastre and cartography. The State Real Estate Registry Service, the Ministry of Justice and other government bodies are also involved in the project. It is they who have been given the remaining 23 million dollars."

It should be noted that equipment has been purchased from a number of foreign countries as part of the project.
