A map of Azerbaijan's mud volcanoes has been compiled

According to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, a map of our country's mud volcanoes has been prepared.
The map, sent to the Baku city executive authority for approval, will be distributed to local executive authorities for use when allocating land plots to the population. Municipal bodies and local executive authorities will use this map to determine whether there is a mud volcano near a given area. Along with preventing problems that may arise later, this will also ensure the safety of the population.
The map shows 52 significant volcanoes. Incidentally, of the 800 mud volcanoes existing in the world, more than 350 are located on the territory of Azerbaijan. Under the relevant decree of the head of state, specialists from the Institute of Geology of the National Academy of Sciences will conduct research in these areas, which have been given the status of a reserve. After the research, rules for the use of mud volcanoes will be determined. As far back as the 1980s, mud volcanoes were used in the treatment of arthritis, radiculitis, hepatitis, and many diseases of the skin and nervous system. Growth in the flow of tourists to Azerbaijan will contribute to the development of this sector, which in the near future may turn into a solid source of revenue for the country's budget.
