238 tour operators are operating in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is seeing intensive development of the tourism sector and the hotel business. This was stated today at a press conference by Aydin Ismiyev, head of the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan.

According to him, as an example one can compare the figures for 2002 and today.

"So, while in 2002 there were 94 hotels operating in Azerbaijan, at the moment there are 320 such facilities. As for tour operators, their number has grown since 2002 from 19-20 to 238," he noted.

Ismiyev also stressed that the number of tourists coming to Azerbaijan has almost doubled.
