Spearfishing season opener

It was evening, nothing to do. Decided to check the weather forecast. I go to gismeteo.ru and lo and behold, for the 27th it's sunny and no wind. Called Vitalik, told him there's a chance to head out spearfishing on the 27th. He says he'd love to, but he's got a lot of work. And he also mentioned that at Svinarka the guys had taken a couple of trophy fish. I thought it over and figured going alone would be kind of boring. Plus anything can happen out there. So in the morning I headed to work, having loaded my gear into the car just in case. I get to work and the weather is just top-notch. And I decided I had to check out the info Vitalik had given me the day before. And I'll tell you, it was worth the trip. Left work at around 11 and by 12 I was already at Svinarka. I hope everyone knows the way. Got changed, set up my weight vest. Went into the water, chilly, water was 20 degrees. I was wearing a Beuchat 5 mm wetsuit. Took two guns with me, an Omer Airbalet 80 and an Omer Cayman 80. Swam around for about 1 hour with the Airbalet, saw a couple of trophy fish, but they wouldn't let me get close, kept about 4 meters away. I shot after them as they swam off, but missed every time. Maybe the gun wasn't pumped up enough, or maybe I was just out of luck. I was already getting upset, thinking it's not my fate to get a fish today. Decided to rest a bit. Came out onto the shore, sat down, had some tea. And I think, I should go in one more time. Went into the water around 2 o'clock with the Omer Cayman. I'm swimming over a hole and I see white lips rising up from the depth. I hang over the hole and wait, and I see it's a trophy fish. It turns sideways to me, shot..... and a direct hit. I was over the moon. Put the fish on the stringer and swam on. Nothing again. Swam around for about 20 minutes, nothing, not even a gambusia. That's it, I think, time to get out, hunt's over. Then I see a hole off in the distance, think I should check it. I swim along the hole aaaand ooooh, what a meeting. A flathead mullet is swimming along the bottom 2 meters away. I'm right behind it. Decided to shoot. Aaand, oddly enough, I hit it, pinned it to the bottom. I thought to myself, third time's the charm, and swam on. But unfortunately there were no more encounters with fish. So that, fellow spearfishers, is how I opened the spearfishing season.
