Lake Otradnoye, Russia, Leningrad Oblast

For the last few years I've been going to St. Petersburg, sometimes to study, sometimes on business trips... This summer I took my family with me, my wife and kid... One fine day (and there aren't many of those there, maybe less than 2 weeks all summer) some friends invited us out of town to go fishing (and they'd been invited by their friends). We got up at 4 in the morning, we had to leave early, first because of traffic, and second because the road is long... We went in 2 cars. By around 10 we were already there, and there was thick fog! Since the invitation came out of the blue, I didn't have time to buy any tackle, and had to make do with what we had! And that was 2 plain telescopic rods with ordinary reels, an inflatable boat, and a net! (I won't go into the tent, the grill, 3 liters of vodka, etc.)…

After pitching camp, having breakfast and so on, we inflated the boat, got the groundbait ready and went out on the first run! On the first run we set the net (just don't scold me, it wasn't my idea) and threw out some groundbait. And on the second run we took the rods and rowed out to fish! We sat there for about 4-5 hours. (Honestly, it was my first time fishing from a boat, and when I climbed out, my face was all happiness, I could barely straighten my back, and my legs had gone numb!). In the end we caught some 20-30 roach, nothing bigger was biting! Back on shore, we decided to have dinner, and then the sky clouded over and it started raining. We spent the whole evening in the tent! In the morning we went out again, but again roach… Since we had a 4-year-old kid with us, we couldn't stay long, and decided to pack up… We rowed out to pull the nets, and there was a small pike, a couple of little bream and a few little roach…

So that was the fishing!

Next Sunday I'm planning to go to the ZGO (the dam) with a rod, what do you think,
any chance?
