Galaalti
This summer I vacationed in Galaalti (summer 2008). We were staying at an altitude of ~ 1.5 km. It's known that the temperature drops by 6 degrees per 1 km. So it was 9 degrees cooler there. It rains a lot there... Mud everywhere... By the way, in summer, the hottest time of the year, when it rains it's chilly there. You can even see your breath. We climbed the mountain. All the way to the very top. That was sooo cool. Then we got lost on the way down. Walked ~ 12 km. By the way, when we were at the top, it was awesome up there: we look down... a huge drop... below us an eagle is soaring (I'm not kidding about the eagle, it was really there), the cars look (not at the very bottom, they were also at a certain altitude) the size of a matchbox. We were up in the clouds. It was chilly and windy there. Too bad I didn't have my cell with me back then, I'd have taken pics and posted them later. Some friends have them on their phones, I'll get them sometime and post them. Almost every night wild boars came around. There was this one dog living there, and as soon as a boar runs by (late at night)... the dog starts barking and... nobody's sleeping anymore. I saw snakes there twice. Venomous snakes. One of them was a blunt-nosed viper, they killed it with a rock to the head. The second was an adder - they finished it off too. There was also a meadow there. How many insects were in that meadow, it's just impossible to say. Beetles, dragonflies, even flies (interesting flies by the way, yellow ones). We often played football in the meadow. When it rained it was awful there! And as I already wrote, it rained a lot there. Whenever it rains, we're falling over. Mud up to your ankles. Even cars couldn't get up the mountain. Only a tractor could make it up. The nature is excellent. The air is the freshest. Note for hunters: wild boars, hares. Though Muslims don't eat boar... Wild apples and cherry plums grew there. We often went and picked them. On this mountain the forest doesn't start right away. There's no forest at the bottom, there's a village there. It starts at an altitude of ~ 600 meters. Sometimes cows from the village wandered up to where we were staying. There were lots and lots of oaks in the forest. You could even say it was an oak forest. There were no conifers there. Such amazing nature... and not that far from Baku. The mountain is right past Siyazan. On the way there (by bus), I could barely sit. My legs went numb. The seats on the bus were so uncomfortable. And on the way back - comfortable seats, and my legs didn't even go numb. We stayed there exactly ten days. Well, actually I was there with a friend... There were ~ 20 people at the camp. One of them is now even a moderator on my site. By the way, I saw a full desktop PC there. Don't know the specs, but the hard drive was 730 gigs. So that's how I spent this summer.
